Madeline Vinton Dahlgren, one of many owners of South Moutain Inn outside Frederick, Maryland, had The Dahlgren Chapel built in 1881 because she was a devout Catholic and she did not have a church near the inn. The chapel is no longer used for church services, but has been recently used as a retreat for nuns and as a wedding chapel. The Central Maryland Heritage League obtained the building in 1996 and restoration efforts continue.
