The first Old Threshers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, was held in September 1950. Every summer the old steam engines provide the power for the threshing machines, sawmill, grist, shingle, veneer and sorghum mills, and the fully-restored 1894 carousel. Midwest Central Railroad steam trains carry thousands of passengers around the grounds. The engines come from all parts of the country and many perform the tasks for which they were originally built.
