Morning at Meems Bottom Bridge, located between Mt. Jackson and Luray, Virginia, this bridge was built in 1892 by Franklin Iliser Wissler to provide access to his apple orchards at Strathmore Farms. This 200-foot single span, Burr Truss design bridge is the longest remaining covered bridge in the state. Damage by arsonists in 1976 closed the bridge. It reopened 1979 after an extensive restoration. The bridge was again restored and refurbished in 1997.
